As you’d expect, this resulted in more than a few unhappy customers who had just purchased a kit that suddenly became worthless.

Cobb’s partner shops were given 30 days of warning before the brand discontinued support. These kits are tremendously popular among the boosted crowd, and were on sale just one month before this decision was announced. Take the brand’s flex-fuel kits, which have fallen victim to this new initiative’s restrictions. The decision to limit access in itself is worthy of some ire from customers, but there are some other extenuating factors at play here. Part of that hushed approach might have something to do with the serious anger Cobb is facing right now. “At this moment, we prefer not to comment any further than what has been published,” a Cobb Tuning representative told Road & Track. That’s just about all Cobb has said, as the company is refusing to say any further at this time. In fact, Cobb has already confirmed that they will not be offering support to any customer whose tune falls outside of the legal parameters defined in the Project Green Speed announcement. This not only prevents people from making these changes in the future, but it also prevents someone with one of these tunes actively installed from making any adjustments. Basically any changes that the EPA could regard as a “delete tune” have been hidden from all end users. The change also restricts the ability to modify the minimum and maximum values in an ECU’s OBD test tables. This means that tuners can no longer modify or remove components like O2 sensors, Exhaust Gas Temperature sensors, EGR systems, or diagnostic trouble codes. R&T sat down with some industry experts to get to the bottom of this decision.Ĭobb Tuning customers no longer have the ability to modify anything related to a vehicle’s “Emissions-Related Elements of Design” through the brand’s Accesstuner software. As part of the brand’s Project Green Speed initiative, Cobb has restricted access to specific engine tables and emissions-related systems via its Accesstuner software. But things have changed in a serious way over at Cobb as of April 18.

If interested reach out to us at for more information.Cobb Tuning is one of the largest suppliers of tuning software and components for enthusiasts. This process is similar to tuning at our facility with the main difference being travel expenses. We're also available to come to your dyno facility or racetrack of choice and tune onsite. Typically within a few hours we'll send you revised maps for testing. We'll send you a base map and you will send us logs. Road tuning can be done for street cars when you don't have access to a dyno. After each track session we'll review data logs and supply updated maps. We'll schedule with you to be available for live tuning and supply you with a base map. Track tuning can be done in a very similar manor.Depending on the level of modification 2 hours will usually suffice on a dyno. Subsequent maps will be available within 15 minutes of receiving logs. If you have access to a local dyno we will schedule a time for live tuning and set you up with a base map to begin with.Remote tuning can be done with or without a dyno. Once you purchase a tuning package we supply you with a list of proper logging parameters. If this is a road going car we'll follow up with a road test for drivability, verifying A/F & boost levels.įor remote tuning we cover all the same tuning but obviously the methods are different. Once open and closed loop A/F are dialed in we move onto boost levels (if needed) then finally ignition timing. What this means for you is not only a proper tune but we can also do it quickly saving you time. Our Dynocom all wheel drive dyno has an eddy current load absorption unit that allows us to sweep all usable loads at a given RPM. From there, depending on the level of modification we verify the MAF calibration and VE tables. At our facility the first thing we do is rack your vehicle and do a pre-dyno inspection to make sure everything is in check and mount a wideband A/F ratio sensor for datalogging prior to loading on the dyno cell. We can tune your car at our dyno facility or remotely anywhere in the world. Arcflash LLC is an authorized COBB Pro-Tuner for
